Crude pulled back near $90/bbl on the Strait of Hormuz reopening — a roughly $15 give-back
from May’s peak. That changes the conversation for upstream capex planning, but not the urgency. Because
June 1 also marked the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season. NOAA forecasts
below-normal activity (8–14 named storms, 3–6 hurricanes) — but “below-normal” still includes the one storm
that takes your facility offline. If your ESD package isn’t tested, dated, and ready, the forecast doesn’t
help you. (Source: NOAA Climate Prediction Center 2026 Atlantic
outlook. Prices as of May 29 – Jun 1, 2026; Trading Economics, FRED, EIA.)
ESD is the work we know best
Hurricane season tests the parts of a facility you hope you never have to use. If the storm spins up, the
only valves that matter are the ones that close on command and stay closed. That’s emergency shutdown — and
here’s the package we build and stock:
- Cameron WKM & Grove trunnion ball valves — API 6D, Class 150–2500, the spec for pipeline and platform ESD
- Bettis CBA Scotch Yoke pneumatic actuators — spring-return fail-safe, highest torque exactly when you need it
- Shafer Rotary Vane & RAM actuators — gas-over-oil for large-bore pipeline ESD where hydraulics aren’t an option
- Limitorque & Rotork electric actuators — MX/QX-series, motorized ESD with battery-backed close on signal loss
- ESD controls, PST, limit switches, solenoids — the entire package, assembled and tested in Houston before it ships
Partial Stroke Testing (PST), declutchable gear overrides, NACE/sour-service trim, fugitive-emissions
(ISO 15848) certification — if the spec asks for it, we’ve sourced it before. Tell us what closes; we’ll tell
you when it ships.
Latin America keeps adding barrels
Vaca Muerta is pushing toward 1 million bpd, Guyana and Suriname keep adding wells, and Brazil, Guyana, and
Argentina combined will add more than 700,000 bpd in 2026. Greenfield offshore and brownfield
expansion both pull the same trunnion ball valves, actuators, and control packages — and they’re already in
motion.
